HOME FROM CAMP

Conduct yourselves wisely toward outsiders, making the most of the time.  Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone (Colossians 4:5,6).

Helen and I spent the last week at NEBOWA Christian Camp with 31 fifth and sixth graders.  We had two very hot days when temperatures reached the upper 90's.  It was then that I began to feel like I was getting a little old for being a dorm dad, but a cold front moved through and it became very cool for this time of the year.  The cool air helps a lot!

Now that we are home I will try to get this blog up to speed--it isn't a bullet unless it is fast!

GOD REWARDS THOSE WHO SEEK HIM

The 103rd Psalm is a psalm of David.  If anyone needed these blessings from the Lord he did.  David committed the big sins of theft, adultery and murder.  Most of us are not that overt in our sinning, we attempt to deceive our selves that sins in the mind, gossip, greed and laziness are not quite so bad, but we are in need of God's grace and blessings just as much as David.  The whole 103rd Psalm is one of my favorite psalms, but I am only going to share verses 2 through 5 with you:

Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits, who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the Pit, who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy, who satisfies you with good as long as you live so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's.

HUMBLE BEGINNINGS--A GREAT FUTURE

This is a humble beginning! Hopefully, as I play around with this I can construct a blog that will be an information board for the Church of Christ in Akron, Iowa.

Yes, the church is still meeting and, through God's gracious provision, there will be much greater things to come.

Meeting times:
Coffee, Conversation and Bible is at 9:00 a.m. Sunday.

Sunday Worship is at 10:00 a. m.

Note: Services are held in the church basement and are best accessed through the basement door on the west side of the church.

The Akron Church of Christ is a tiny congregation, but we are not tiny-hearted people. If you come to worship with us you will receive a warm welcome.

Grace&Peace,
Pastor Tom
